![]() What is your subscribed ISP downloaad/upload rate, and what do you measure from a Gigabit-capable computer when wired directly to an Ethernet LAN port on the router? How many Adapters would I need and am I correct in thinking Coax in and Ethernet out would work by itself or do I need lots of Splitters? Before I go buying new equipment and "crashing" my network trying to set it up a little guidance would be greatly appreciated. I can "Bang Around" a bit, but this is more than confusing to me. Not quite sure how that will work, but.Ĭan anyone here help clear some of the “Fog” I’m struggling with please? A friend set up the ActionTec Adapters for me years ago, before I had FIOS, and It has COAX In and COAX Out ports as well as an Ethernet Port, but the newer Adapters I see advertised only show COAX In and an Ethernet Port. I’m a little “confused” as to the COAX In/COAX Out, Ethernet cable, and Splitter requirements. I got some numbers from the Tivo boxes that showed the equipment was sending and receiving between 240 Mbps and 280 Mbps.įrom reading the various posts it sounds like I may need toĪ) Replace the ActionTec Adapters with either Moca 2.0 or Moca 2.5 adaptersī) Possibly add additional adapters to the configuration behind the Roamio and Mini LUX as well - though that seems odd if the devices are already Moca capable. I’d like to take full advantage of the 1GB Speed the Router advertises (or as much of it as possible), but I’m not sure of the best way to do that. In the rest of the house I have a Roamio Plus and a Mini LUX. I currently have Verizon FIOS Router that I got recently which is MOCA capable and I have confirmed that Moca is “Active”.īehind that I have a pair of ActionTec ECB2500C MOCA Adapters - one tied to the Router and one to a TIVO Premier XL (Series 4). Thanks for your help everyone.NOTE: I’m not a Network Person, but I’ve done a bit of digging and here is what I have after reading posts here and pulling down what I can from the various vendors. The speed is a bit disappointing (10MBps) but that’s something I can diagnose now that I know it works. Update: grabbing a moca adapter from Amazon and using my the Fios router as a MoCA bridge worked. The Hitron has a MOCA filter built in which is nice so my question is, can I set up the G1100 as a MOCA bridge from the coax connection in my room and it would just connect to my modem through coax without additional hardware? If that works that would save me a ton of time and money. The modem from my ISP is MOCA compatable (Hitron EN2251) and I have an old MOCA capable router/modem from my old ISP (FiOS-G1100) and I wanted to see if its possible to just set up a MOCA network with these two things, or if I would need additional hardware. ![]() I am inexperienced with MOCA though so I need some help figuring this out. I originally was going to have someone (Idk who does it) come out and install them, but after researching about MOCA it seems that this could be a better solution. For some unknown reason the house I just moved into doesn't have any ethernet ports installed. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
